well i figured i should post some kind of progress thread... i came here to get help & some advice so put up or shut up right? lol. [wasnt sure whether to put this here or in the 50 section..]

still pretty new to all this.. ive been holding off on just posting up pics cause i know they dont tell the whole story... but i finally got a shitty video together, granted i have a lot more footage i couldn't even edit cause my computer sucks but it gets the point across lol.

got the bike with an egged 88 kit so swapped in a new piston & cylinder...started out riding with a bent frame [raked the front end out a few inches] and extended swing arm, 15t front 37t rear sprockets and a shitty carb... the bike was a basketcase when i got it. only thing decent was the bbr bars and the beefed up suspension. swapped the carb, got a 14t front sprocket, then i got a new frame & stock swingarm...thats when things started to progress a little better. Just recently extended my rear brake pedal which helped a lot too.

i know its a shitty video, nothin but fb sitdowns and im still a squid so be easy on me lol... gotta start somewhere right? [i atleast threw in me dropping the bike at the end just to make it a little more worthwhile haha]

trying to hit the lot for a little while tonight, so hopefully i'll have something a little better soon lol. but any advice is welcomed...

Try straight line sit downs first. Put all of your weight centered on the seat and when you get on the throttle don't yank the bike up, but more of hold it back and that'll lift the front up n use your left leg to aid in holding the bike. Once the bike feels high enough let all the pressure off your left leg and let if lightly hang there. Of course use the right for fb but don't use your weight for that. The more you can keep your weight centered the straighter the bike will go. Use the bars for steering. The big bars will give you the leverage to steer. Don't be afraid to rev the gear out a little, it'll actually stabilize your right to left balance. Just each time let it gets little higher.
Also you want to make sure your chain is properly adjusted and aligned. And run a softer tire pressure at first in the rear. Other than that your off to a good start

thanks. Yea I don't really mean to go left so much, wasn't sure if it was tire pressure or that I only have my left foot down.. cause when I put a little more pressure on it & pull it up the wheel a little higher it just dips left. So sometimes i just go with it haha. I did end up going out riding for a bit tonight and got some better, straighter wheelies... gonna try and throw another short clip together. but I def hear what you're saying & I think I was starting to do that a little more tonight so its good to hear I'm slowing moving in the right direction. I appreciate the advice & thank you for not just saying I suck hahah

went riding for a little bit last night & managed to get another short clip together... not sure if its really much better. gonna try a few different things next time out, might try putting some pegs on and giving staggered a shot. so hopefully the next one will be an improvement...

Throw a handbrake on the thing. You can build one relatively cheap and ill tell ya how. its actually quite simple. You dont really need to buy any kit.

after all that discussion of whether or not to wait on the hb. haha. but thats the route im going actually, just need the cable & to finish making the brackets. i appreciate the tip tho i was just holding off on putting one on for awhile.. you dont think its still a little soon for me?

new rider, 50 progress - KYD - 05-23-2013

nope. You dont really need brackets. you need 2 clutch perches(one with a lever) and the other is for the end of the cable on the swing arm. and you need a cable off one of these i believe. And you have to weld on another clevis pin.

Cable Style has a barrel on one end and a threaded rod on the other.

There ya go steph, sell an Organ and get some $$$ and buy it up. you only need one kidney, lung, gull bladder isnt needed, only half a liver will work...plenty of options
