Anyone ever seen this happen??? :( - Tom Ass - 10-04-2012

Just built my new F4i from ground up, everything was perfect, bike has less than 300 miles since build...powder coated my spring on my rear shock and cranked it to the tightest setting, after the first couple rides on the street i decided it was too hard so i backed it off two clicks and thats where it has been for a couple rides now...

my boy was riding it today down the highway and the motor mount where the dog bones connect gave way, ripped a huge hole in my motor and let the tail drop down and lock up the rear tire, luckily he didnt go down some how but i just wanted to see if anyone had ever had this happen before to them???

thats what i figured but i just cant understand how honda would make their shocks tight enough to tear a hole in the motor lol and heating up a spring makes it softer so its not the powder coating, if anything that would make the spring weak

Damn ...
But like everyone said . The RR swing arm will do shit like that .. But I never seem it done on a stock one
Your boy is lucky

I think you over tightened that bolt and weaken that casting.

I don't have an f4i, so I'm having a really hard time picturing where this mount is located, but could it be that your chain was too tight? When the rear shock compresses, the chain tightens
