Can't get my front wheel to hook up! - 762SPR - 09-25-2012 I have a almost new pilot power on the front, but I still can't seem to get it to stick for burnouts or stoppies. I can't figure out why, maybe I'm doing something wrong??? For stoppies, If I lift my butt out of the seat a little and really push on the bars I can plow some small ones but pretty often it will just keep skidding. Even when I'm up on the front it will skid then stick then skid and keep doing it. it makes me real hesitant to try bigger and higher stoppies! For burnouts, idk what the heck, not matter what I do the front just plows! It's driving my crazy! If I get way the heck up on the tank, sometimes I can get it to break loose, others it will just pop a small wheelie and try to buck me off when the front comes down again. Maybe it's my back tire? Right now I have a dunlop sportmax takeoff with half the cord showing, but I have a Storm 2 in the mail... I used to be able to at least do small rolling burnouts but I can't seem to anymore. I can even do them on my 50! Is there some great secret I'm missing???
Can't get my front wheel to hook up! - navajowalks - 09-25-2012 Your front suspension might be too stiff if its skidding on stoppies.. what's it set at? Can't get my front wheel to hook up! - M.F. Mall Cop - 09-25-2012 Get some video of how you are doing them. For stoppies stay light on your feet. Grip the tank with your thighs as you hit the front brake. Ive seen people almost stand up and take their butt off the seat. Just slide your weight forward into the tank. Burnouts not sure kinda need video. Lean more forward? Your thighs should sorta be hugging the middle sides of your tank. Can't get my front wheel to hook up! - redstar - 09-25-2012 More gas on burnouts and do it with one motion. I had an issue with my front end never keeping grip, turned out I wasn't giving it enough gas. Can't get my front wheel to hook up! - 762SPR - 09-26-2012 No idea whet my suspension is set to... and what's worse is the PO had looped it and half the adjuster is ground off ![]() I have found that gripping the tank with my thighs and being off the seat works best for stoppies, but the front wheel still skips a lot. Sort of like ABS, but less frequent. For the burnouts, I'm literally as far forward as I can get with my feet still being on the pegs. I know feet on the pegs isn't a requirement, but that gives you an idea of my position. What do you mean one motion? Like dumping the clutch and applying the front brake a little? Or is it more letting out than dumping? thanks for the help! Can't get my front wheel to hook up! - ReCkLeSsRyAn - 09-26-2012 when ur goin to do a burn out roll into it hit the front brake to get some weight on the frontened while u dump clutch... if that makes any sense.. im bad at explaining shit Can't get my front wheel to hook up! - 762SPR - 09-26-2012 No that makes sense. So sort of like a mini stoppie without the wheel coming off the ground to unweight the back wheel, then dump the clutch at the same time. What sort of speed is good to start at? like walking pace? Can't get my front wheel to hook up! - ReCkLeSsRyAn - 09-26-2012 not even walking pace justa idle Can't get my front wheel to hook up! - 762SPR - 09-26-2012 Cool, thanks man! The new tire is supposed to be here tomorrow, so I might try to send this one out in style
