Questions on WR250X.. - Jake762 - 07-11-2012 I just picked up a WR250X to stunt yesterday. First question is regarding aftermarket exhaust systems and such. It came with a FMF power bomb header and a GYTR can (including FMF tuner). Is there any reason this setup will decrease reliability and/or hurt stunt performance (maybe reduced torque at the low end)? If there isn't a big peformance gain for stunting with this thing, I'm going to sell the full exhaust and tuner and use the cash on a nice dual caliper setup. Onto the next question. I already purchased an idle cable that hasn't arrived yet but I'm not too sure what a single-cylinder 250 will like idle wise. I ran my f4i on 2-3k and was comfortable with it. What are you guys setting yours at on a motard? I know it's a personal opinion but just trying to get a baseline to start with. Thanks for the help! Questions on WR250X.. - loogie - 07-11-2012 Same exhaust/tuner setup I run.Its awesome, leave it on. Idle wise just turn it up till where it feels good.Dont have a tach so cant tell you where mine is currently. Questions on WR250X.. - Jake762 - 07-12-2012 Thanks! I can't wait to start playin on it. With axle sliders only ,think I'll be good to work on some idle stuff? I plan on getting Trex frame sliders and a foot bar but that's some cash down the road. I don't want to trash it too bad
Questions on WR250X.. - ajbsays - 07-12-2012 loogie knows his stuff and stubbz also.. and no dont take the exaust off lol!!! Questions on WR250X.. - Jake762 - 07-12-2012 Just waiting for this rain to stop!!! It's scheduled to roll on for the next week non stop. It started the day I got the WR... Anyway, so far I picked up an F4i idle cable (or equal), 52 sprocket, D2 blue 520 120L chain. I am awaiting pay pal info to purchase 50 stunt front and rear axle sliders as well as 50 stunt rear pegs. I'll take everyones advice and keep the pipe on there ![]() Other than that, just going to pick up a HB and read up on the Trex frame sliders that mount under the engine. Questions on WR250X.. - ajbsays - 07-12-2012 if you look at mine or stubbz build you can see everything you want to know, and i believe youll need a 150 link chain.... for that big of a sprocket.. Questions on WR250X.. - loogie - 07-12-2012 There's a dude on here with the stunt parts you need just FYI before you buy new Questions on WR250X.. - Jake762 - 07-12-2012 Oh yea I picked up the parts minus the handbrake from him. Also, I saw that the chain that was purchased on the winter build thread was the 520 120Link also. They also used a 52t sprocket. Is that not actually the chain that was used? Questions on WR250X.. - Stubbz63 - 07-12-2012 120 should be enough for a 52 rear sprocket. i hope your planning on only using it for lot riding if your going that big on the rear. its going to be overkill and you'll learn easier on a 49 i bet. if you remove the exhaust for stock its gonna be a moped even worse than it already is. i had the full fmf system on mine but since have changed to an 03/04 600rr rear can with custom midpipe to make it undertail. it was very open and stupid loud, never bothered me as far as idle pull cuz you use more throttle for circles on these than relying on just idle like big bikes do. its like a big 50 youll get used to actually using the throttle a lot for circles. mine was to loud so i made a custom restricter to go in my pipe and its a lot better now and i still get plenty of idle. how high you keep it is all personal preference as you learn you'll start to use a bit of idle. but when just sitting there you dont want to hit the throttle and have it start screaming and stay there either. deff get a DCB from 50stunt or an FTI dcb if you can find one along with either a 13mm magura master or a 16mm depending on if you have short fingers but if not go with the 13 itll take a while to get used to how grabby it is but you'll smooth out eventually. like AJ said just read threw some other threads, mine and his have a ton of info in them. keep your wallet handy cuz you'll just wanna keep getting more and more for it lol, mines got everything on it that i feel it needs and then some except for the big bore which will probly come next year Questions on WR250X.. - Stubbz63 - 07-12-2012 get the stiff rider pegs from 50 stunt also, the t-rex frame sliders will never touch the ground crashing on pavement, mine been on its side in the lot a number of times and my frame sliders are still minty fresh, they look good popping out of the skid plate tho which takes some cutting of the skidplate but looks sick. |
