Stunt Bike Choice Question - Smalls636 - 03-20-2011
While I am definitely digging seeing all of the '03/'04 ZX-6Rs being used, I was wondering what makes them such a popular bike for this. I'm noticing that the preferred bikes on here are either those, or the '01/'02 F4i's. While there are plenty of threads which suggest these bikes, I haven't really found anything that says WHY they are chosen over R6's or GSXR's (not that they aren't being stunted). Thanks guys and gals!

I'm just trying to see if this info is consolidated somewhere. I've been digging through this forum for a few hours now and I'm only finding tidbits. The main thing I'm finding is durability. That can't be all there is to it right? I have an '03 636 so I know I have at least a good foundation to start with, I was just wondering what makes this one a more popular choice then say an R6, or a 600RR, or even just a new model ZX-6R.

To start with its a 636 so obviously it has more cc's than the others mentioned which means more power! It's arguably one of the best looking! I think your dwelling on it way to much, so go out buy some good parts and stunt the shit out of that bike!

WTF, this guy gets the go ahead to stunt a 636 and everyone talks me down to an F4i from an R6!!!! JK. Yeah I was in the same boat as you man a few days ago, not knowing why certain bikes are choosen over others. People love the F4i since it is so durable and there are a buttload of parts for them out there for cheap, the bike is pretty cheap too, ideal for begginers. The 636 is a more fragile bike and has a weaker build than the F4i but apparently is very smooth for stunting, so probably shouldn't start on it since you will end up banging it up alot. I myself was going to start on an 07 R6v but there are no parts out for it yet, it is a very weak bike, expensive and the throttle on it is a bit tricky to mess with since it has a Flybywire throttle. So I am going to be selling it now and buying an F4i and decking the shit outta it with the money I get.

You can throw an F4i off the roof, pick it up and ride it home. The positioning of the motor is more towards the back, so you achieve balance point easier. Tons of parts.
636, all the right reasons just don't take the beating as well as the hondas.
R6 motor positioned more towards the front, ideal for endo bikes, competions etc. Not a lot of parts. Nimble bike.
GSXR. I don't know what to say. The thing is long and front heavy, you gotta have some skill to pull off lot stunts with it (Hawaiian Eddie). Plus the radiator or the frame always crack from setting it down too hard.

Cool Cool, that was pretty much what I was looking for. I love the F4i as much as the next guy but I just can't see myself parting ways with my 636, too much history with the old girl lol.
Argh...will be about a week before I get my lockset and am to get back on my bike and start practicing.

if youre serious about stunting i think you will take the time to read every little bit you can so you know what is going on and such. iv spent forever on this site and other just reading stuff and i think the only thing that matters is commitment then stunt whatever you have...
like everyone said f4i is a tank but they have their cons as do all bikes, its all about preference and what you feel comfortable on and if your 636 is your baby might be tough haha id rather sell it and know that it was in good shape than tear it up...stunting is going to trash your bike up right away and thats what i plan on happening to mine since i am starting too....make sure you have money too haha kinda spendy which is also a reason why f4i and 636 is popular because there really isnt a lack of parts but try an r6 or something and try and find some parts, you might have to learn to fab some parts...
moral...commit and stunt what you have!!!
