change is one thing, but mandatory health insurance is stupid in my opinion. And what ever happened to people that wanted good health insurance just getting a god damn job.\r\n

I\'ve done my research on this, but my view point on america may be diff than yours. I was raised that this country was about hard work to get what you need and support your family, not for the government to tell people what/how to do it. Also, this taxes the wealthiest class and also forces them to have insurance. Which is just another way for the government to get their money. up to a 6.5% surcharge to the rich plus insurance costs? Also, this is supposed to make it so small businesses have to supply insurance, but the penalties are far less than the cost to provide the insurance so they will pay the fine and everyoen will still be without health care.Quote:

\n It will subsidize insurance for a family of four making up to about $88,000 annually, or 400 percent of the federal poverty level.
\n It also creates a series of health insurance exchanges designed to make it easier for small businesses, the self-employed and the unemployed to pool resources and purchase less expensive coverage.

\nI stil do not understand it completely. But I plan on being self employed soon and so far it seems better for small businesses. As of now i work for a large company with great benifits so im not to worried about any change. But I am with Thomas... I would rather see bad change then no change at all. Gotta do something.\r\n

Ive been in the healthcare field for 10 years, Ive seen the problems our healthcare industry faces FIRST HAND. You wanna know one reason healthcare is sooooo expensive? UNINSURED people recieving healthcare, and not paying for it. Who do you think pays for the care they recieve? ME, and my insurance company, thru the rate hikes, because of the $$ the hospitals/clinics are writing off.Quote:

\r\nThis is NOT a bill for government ran healthcare. This is an INSURANCE BILL. It will require people to get coverage, or pay a fine. Thats just how it is, and I see nothing wrong with it. Why do you?

We\'re still free, trust me. The free market has ruined the food we eat, the banks, the housing market, and healthcare. I don\'t know if you\'ve seen this document but words like WE and welfare kinda sounds like they wanted it to be possible for ALL the people of this country to live a good life not just the rich and thats exactly where we are headed.
