Whats a typical price for powder coating a frame? - gregvhen - 02-11-2010 Is 100 bucks a really good deal? i have a friend whos uncle powder coats and i asked my friend if his uncle would do my frame for 100. Am i being skeet or that just an average good deal. Which is the typical baking temp for powdercoat. If anything, the heat will harden the aluminum more. Annealing Annealing should be done at 775 F for 2 to 3 hours followed by controlled cooling at 50 f per hour down to 500 F, then air cool. Aging The aging precipitation heat treatment is done at 350 F for 8 hours followed by air cooling. This produces the T6 temper. an hour in the powdercoat oven is not gona do that. It really shouldn't have any effect on the aluminum once it's cooled. But that's a damn good price for a frame. I got a quote for a bandit frame, 2 stage color, $200 with the foot control plates. Also, do i have to sand it all down to bare metal? or is ok that some of the OEM silver is still on there? |
