Quiet down my Exhaust--Homemade Help! - armenian. - 01-13-2010 I have an FMF Powercore 4 on my 88, and to put it simple, its nice and all, and I don't think its obnoxiously loud, but my buddies are bitching about it being too loud for the sidewalks we rip around on. I took the sleeve off of the can tonight and removed the black charred up packing and plan on buying some new packing from Cycle Gear tomorrow, but before I put it back together, I was wondering if anyone in here has any homemade ideas for silencing methods. I was thinking about maybe buying some wire mesh and jamming it into the baffle, or maybe building a mesh tube that has some bends in it, instead of being straight.... Anyone got any ideas? I really don't want to have to put a stock pipe back on because i have the full stage 3 kit, carb., race head, and jet kit on my bike. Quiet down my Exhaust--Homemade Help! - SDFKILLZ - 01-13-2010 take an old exhaust and remove the baffle. cut and flatten it out so you have a square sheet of metal with all the cheese grater holes in it. then cut yourself a circle the size of the core and then tack weld it in the exhaust. Quiet down my Exhaust--Homemade Help! - armenian. - 01-13-2010 Awesome guys! Thanks for the ideas...I think i might try the baffle reduction in diameter and stuff the living crap out of the can!!! We're hitting the sidewalks again this friday night so stealth mode will be in full affect!!! !!!!! |
